Team News

Recent news for Peter Veth is that he is a Chief Investigator on a newly awarded Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures – which includes seascapes. This $89M national Centre will scaffold 95 PhDs and 45 Postdocs and includes WAM and Flinders University. It starts in mid-2024.

Trevor’s expertise has been recently recognised by the WA Museum (WAM) and Flinders University. In August this year he was appointed as a Research Associate of WAM’s Department of Maritime Heritage. He has now just been awarded Adjunct Academic Status as an Associate Lecturer in Flinders’ College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. This recognition will assist Winwell Foundation’s mission to collaboratively undertake in-situ surveys and interpretation of sub-seabed materials, and support emerging practitioners.

Wendy, and her Flinders University colleagues Jonathan Benjamin, John McCarthy and Hiro Yoshida, received the Vice-Chancellor’s Innovation in Teaching Award for their development of an accredited micro-credential in Professional Scientific Diving — congratulations to them for improving future maritime archaeologists’ skill sets in the sea!

And also in the winners list is Andrew and his team from Curtin HIVE – they have won the 2022 WA Heritage Interpretation Project Award for their ‘Fremantle Then & Now: Historical Panoramas’ exhibition.
